“Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results.” -Albert Einstein
We believe in the value of building lasting relationships with students. Without engaging in students’ lives, we cannot expect to see lasting change and effective growth as young people become the leaders of tomorrow. Our aim is to connect students to young adult mentors that provide a crucial and important positive influence in their lives.
Here are some sobering statistics that show why Mentoring is important:
-There are currently 46 million American children growing up without a Father in the home.
-63% of youth suicides occur in Fatherless homes.
-85% of children with behavior problems in school come from a Fatherless home.
-80% of violent crimes are committed by those without a Father.
-71% of school drop outs are Fatherless.
-75% of young people with substance abuse problems are Fatherless.
-85% of all youth in prison lived in a home without a Father.
Obviously there is a problem. You may be reading this and say, “I’m a single Mother, I do what I can, but I can’t do everything.” That’s right. And you’re not expected to. You may be a single dad and say, “My child isn’t Fatherless, I’m a great dad, but my son/daughter’s mom isn’t around, what can I do?” Again, you may not be able to help it, but something is missing.
We want to offer hope. We can’t be a parent. A Mother. A Father. But we can be a positive influence in your child’s life. We don’t believe a lack of positive influence is any excuse for a student not to work hard to achieve their highest potential. We strive to challenge students to grow, learn, and become mature adults.
Young People with Mentors are:
-46% less likely to do drugs.
-53% less likely to skip school.
-59% more likely to improve their grades.
-33% less likely to resort to violence.
Mentoring reduces crime, teen pregnancy, abortion, and divorce.
You don’t have to be from a single-parent family to get a mentor. If you’re just looking to surround yourself with positive influence, we want to be a part of that in your life. We believe in you. We believe in your family.
